Some of the best Paris attractions

From its beautiful architecture to its enchanting culture, visiting Paris offers a chance to explore one of the world’s most romantic cities. Of course, the city has more than enough to keep any traveler entertained. Art enthusiasts will rejoice over the many museums that they can access. People who want to sit back and relax can enjoy the many scenic gardens. For those who love an incredible view, the City of Light is particularly fitting. Regardless of what you’re after, you’re sure to find something incredible to do on our list of the top attractions in Paris.

Tour Montparnasse, Bienvenue!

What better way to bid bonjour to the City of Love than to take it all in at once? The Montparnasse Tower Observation Deck — Tour Montparnasse, in French — is a 210 meter skyscraper, and Paris’ tallest building. Perhaps the city’s most underrated vantage point, a trip to the top on your first day is a wonderful way to get your bearings. We promise, it’s one of the best ways to see the Eiffel Tower.

Explore all of the Louvre (or at least try to)

One of the most famous museums in the world, the Louvre Museum contains over 35,000 objects. Located in a building that once was the home of the French monarchy, the museum now features an iconic glass pyramid at the entrance. Home to the Mona Lisa, among other priceless items, the museum is no stranger to visitors. To avoid large crowds, try visiting the museum at night. On Wednesdays and Fridays, the Louvre is open until 9:45 PM. Generally, fewer people visit at night, so you can take your time leisurely strolling through the exhibits. Warning: The Louvre is huge and seeing everything it has to offer would take days. Plan on spending at least 4 to 5 hours if you want to see the main highlights.

Dance your way to Palais Garnier

A trip to Paris wouldn’t be complete without visiting the Palais Garnier. The famous Parisian opera house hosts ballet and is said to be the famed setting of The Phantom of the Opera. While you can still see performances at the opera house, you can also tour the Palais Garnier to learn about its history. Just keep in mind that the building can get quite cramped, so plan to spend about 2 hours at the opera house to see everything it has to offer.

Discover a secret underground of Paris; the Catacombs

Both historically fascinating and particularly creepy, the Catacombs are one of the most popular attractions in Paris. The large tunnel network below ground was initially built as a cemetery in the late 18th century. Nowadays, the catacombs of Paris house the remains of over 6 million people. As you walk around the catacombs, please remember to be respectful. Additionally, make sure to wear comfortable shoes on your visit, as you’ll have to walk up and down a fair number of stairs to get in and out.

Don’t forget about the Eiffel Tower

As one of the most famous monuments in the world, the Eiffel Tower has become an icon of Paris that you can’t afford to miss. Built for the 1889 World’s Fair, the tower was initially a source of controversy among the Parisian community. Sentiments may have changed over the years, however, as over 25,000 people go up the tower each day. With so many people going up and down, booking tickets in advance is the best way to ensure a visit to the Eiffel Tower during your time in Paris.
